The Targeted Agriculture Modernisation Scheme (TAMS 3) provides grants to farmers to build and/or improve a specified range of farm buildings and equipment on their holdings. There is an indicative budget of €440 million available for the period 2021-2027, and all investments must be linked to Climate, Environment or Animal Welfare.

Overall, a total of 45,274 applications were submitted in the first eight tranches of TAMS 3, which includes the latest tranche which closed for applications on 6 June 2025. To date a total of over €74.3 million have issued to farmers under TAMS 3, with payments continuing to issue on a weekly basis.

TAMS is a demand-led scheme with a defined budgetary allocation. In view of the fact that we are now just halfway through the current CAP Strategic Plan (CSP), it is prudent that I am mindful of the budget available for the remaining TAMS Tranches. In order to ensure that the available budget is distributed fairly over the remainder of the CSP period, it may be necessary to limit the number of approved applications per tranche going forward by applying ranking and selection criteria, including for the upcoming Tranche 9, which opened on 7 June and will close on 6 September. I will ensure this will be kept under ongoing review for the remainder of the CSP.
