228. To ask the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport his plans to support individuals who wish to complete pilot training in Ireland, as the costs are currently prohibitively high for most people; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [35713/25]

I have no plans to introduce specific financial supports for individuals wishing to complete pilot training in Ireland. It should be noted that the State has never provided financial support toward such training.

While perhaps less common than in previous years, I am aware that opportunities exist to apply for cadetship programmes, both with commercial airlines and the Air Corps of Defence Forces Ireland, which can provide an alternative route to pilot training.
