To ask the Minister for Health the protocols in place to review and adjust thyroid medication dosages for women following childbirth, particularly where the dosage was increased during pregnancy; in the absence of protocols, the measures that will be taken to ensure that postnatal thyroid treatment is appropriately monitored to avoid adverse effects such as depression and suicidal ideation; and if she will make a statement on the matter. To ask the Minister for Health if she is aware of cases in which women have remained on elevated thyroid medication postpartum without review, resulting in serious mental health side effects including depression and suicidal thoughts; and if the HSE has conducted or will conduct any review or audit into such cases.
