The Land Development Agency (LDA) is working with key landholders across the public and commercial State sectors to transfer land to the LDA in a managed process that meets its needs while minimising disruption to its operations. The Government is currently considering options to accelerate this process while ensuring that the transfer process remains smooth and does not impact the ongoing operations of State bodies.
In particular, the Government is considering an amendment to the LDA Act to provide for a direction to be issued to a commercial state body to dispose of land to the Agency. This direction would only be issued following a process to ensure that such a disposal would not impact the financial stability of the body or their capacity to meet any other legislative obligations that apply.
