159. To ask the Minister for Communications, Climate Action and Environment if he will support the Taxes Consolidation (Rights of Performers and Film Workers) (Amendment) Bill 2025, which seeks to link tax reliefs for film and television productions to compliance with the EU Copyright Directive and other basic protections for performers; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I understand that this Private Members Bill passed first stage in the Dáil on 10 June 2025. While quality employment is a key principle underpinning the operation of the Section 481 film tax relief, copyright is the responsibility of my Government colleague the Minister for Enterprise, Tourism and Employment while tax matters are the responsibility of the Minister for Finance. The Government will respond to the Bill when it next comes before the Houses of the Oireachtas for debate in the usual way.
