To ask the Minister for Employment Affairs and Social Protection the breakdown of job seekers allowance recipients by length of time they have been in receival of the payment, under 1 year, between 1 and 2 years, between 2 and 3 years, between 3 and 4 years and between 4 and 5 years; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Jobseeker's Allowance is a means-tested payment made to people who are unemployed. To qualify for Jobseeker's Allowance, claimants must satisfy a means test, be available for full-time workand be fully or partly unemployed (at least 4 days out of work in every 7). The rate of payment depends on income and the outcome of the means assessment, and age; the full weekly personal payment is €244.At the end of May 2025 there were 110,579 persons on the Live Register claiming Jobseeker's Allowance. The duration of those claims is shown in the below table, please note that for statistical reasons persons working casually or part-time are included in the 'under 1 year' category.
