The following data is presented in full-time-equivalent (FTE) terms and is based on data from Quarter 4 in each of the years presented. The table includes prison staff, of which there were 3,542 in quarter 4 of 2024, as they are included within the overall category of civil servants. These staff are included in the relevant grades below.
