To ask the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform the total amount owed by the State to public service pensioners arising from the NSSO pension issue review; the sums of money and the numbers involved in the form of bands and at intervals of €5,000; when these monies will be able to be recouped by those affected; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The NSSO has identified an issue with the calculation of pension entitlements for retirees who were working on a Reduced Working Hours/Shorter Working Year basis and in receipt of certain allowances at the time of retirement. 

The NSSO review is underway to identify those impacted; in these instances individuals will receive, in most cases, small pension increases. The NSSO is committed to ensuring that any arrears outstanding to this cohort will be paid as a matter of priority.
