The information requested by the Deputy is set out in the attached table, which provides a breakdown of HIQA inspectors on 1 January each year between 2019 & 2025, and the latest figure for June 2025. The inspectors are provided by division between designated centres for children, older persons, disability, Regulatory Practice Development Unit, healthcare (including permanent International Protection Accommodation Services inspectors), and HIQA’s Information Handling Centre.

In relation to the rate of recruitment turnover of staff at the rank of inspector in HIQA for each of the years 2019 to 2025, HIQA have provided the following number of leavers per year for the time period specified: 2019 – 8; 2020 – 2; 2021 – 3; 2022 – 11; 2023 – 10; 2024 – 2; 2025 (to date) – 1.
