In July 2024, my Department launched a new scheme called Work and Access. This scheme offers seven supports to improve access in the workplace for people with a disability. Funding is available for supports including communication supports, work equipment, and training.

Workplace Adaptation is one of the supports offered under the Work and Access scheme. This grant is designed for people with a disability who require modifications to their workplace to enable them to get or stay in a job. Funding can be used to cover the costs of necessary adaptations to equipment, technology for both the business premises and remote workplaces.

The scheme is open to a non-public sector employer operating in the State, including employers in the private sector, community and voluntary sectors as well as not-for-profit organisations.

A community organisation such as a men's shed can apply for the workplace adaptation grant provided that they are a legal entity and/or a charity recognised by the Revenue Commissioners. The employee must work a minimum of 8 hours per week or 32 hours a month.

I trust that this clarifies the issue for the Deputy.
