510. To ask the Minister for Housing, Planning, and Local Government if the National Parks and Wildlife Service has agreed a solution with Galway County Council to the planning condition regarding the enhancement of the N59 between Bunnakill and Claremont in County Galway, to facilitate progression of the project to the construction phase; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) of my Department has been working with Galway County Council in relation to this project since 2016.

The NPWS wrote to Galway County Council on 27 June 2023 and 22 May 2024 and comprehensively set out its views in relation to this project and this remains the position. Further correspondence was received from Galway County Council on 9 June 2025, which the NPWS is currently reviewing and will revert to Galway County Council as soon as possible. The NPWS is committed to continue working with Galway County Council in relation to this important project. This is a complex case in a designated area and great care is being exercised in giving the matter full and due consideration.
