The school referred by the Deputy has been approved to enter the Department's pipeline for school building projects to provide one mainstream classroom and a three classroom SEN base under the Additional School Accommodation Scheme. This project has been devolved to the school authorities for delivery.
In May 2025 a Stage 3 (tender report) was received by my Department which is currently being reviewed. All projects, including this one, will undergo the necessary due diligence outlined in the Public Infrastructure Guidelines. Managing timing, scope, current market costs along with any additional costs will form part of this review process.
Due to the volume of projects and the review requirements that must be adhered to approve the project to the next stage, it is not possible to give a definitive timeline as to when this review will be complete.
My department will make every effort to review the report in a timely manner. Once this review is complete my department will be in touch with the school authority on how best to progress this important project.
