324. To ask the Minister for Education and Skills if she will confirm that a new principal will be appointed to a school (details supplied), as the principal retired on the 15 May 2025; if concessionary posts have been lost to the school because of the amalgamation date of the 15 May 2025 being agreed; if the service records and holiday entitlements of each member of staff continues to be available to each staff member to avoid any error in the approval of leave and payments due; if it is the case that staff must apply individually for their service records; and if she will make a statement on the matter. The school referred to by the Deputy amalgamated with a neighbouring school on 15 May 2025 and so appointments would be made in the newly amalgamated school from that date.
Where schools are amalgamating, there is a provision for the allocation of a concessionary mainstream teaching post(s) only in cases where the approved number of mainstream teachers serving in the schools at the time the amalgamation takes place exceeds the number of mainstream posts warranted by the staffing schedule.
My Department retains service records for school staff paid by the Department's payrolls. Staff members can obtain their service history by contacting the Primary Payroll Section. Schools can also contact the Department's Online Claims (OCLS) Help Desk for any queries on leave.
