84. To ask the Taoiseach and Minister for Defence the number of volunteers with the Civil Defence; the plans to help promote participation in the Civil Defence; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [30611/25]

Currently, there are almost 1,900 active and probationary Civil Defence Volunteers across twenty-eight Units across the State. As with many Voluntary organisations, Civil Defence continues to rebuild its Volunteer base following Covid and active recruitment is ongoing. To that end, my Department is examining the scope for a national campaign of recruitment to be launched later in the year. This will highlight the tasks regularly undertaken by Civil Defence volunteers across the State and encourage the public to volunteer with their local units.
