33. To ask the Minister for Environment, Community and Local Government the position which Ireland will take on the upcoming renewal of the memorandum of understanding between the European Union, Egypt and Israel on natural gas, specifically due to the lack of a territorial clause explicitly excluding the Palestinian territories occupied by Israel; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The authority to conclude international agreements such as this Memorandum of Understanding is exercised on behalf of the Irish Government by my colleague, the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade. As Minister for Climate, Energy and the Environment, I am responsible for relevant negotiations but not for the Government decision to withdraw from international agreements. Ireland has been a consistently strong voice in Europe against the war in Gaza.
