363. To ask the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport if he is aware of the impact that several recent bank holiday weekend DART closures have had on passengers visiting coastal areas and local businesses reliant on footfall for weekend trade; while it is understood that necessary works have to be carried out, if he will meet with Iarnród Eireann and other stakeholders to discuss a station-to-station replacement bus service, carrying out necessary engineering works at night as is common in other jurisdictions, engagement with local services and businesses in advance; and if he will make a statement on the matter. As Minister for Transport, I have responsibility for policy and overall funding in relation to public transport; however, I am not involved in the day-to-day operations of public transport.

The issue raised by the Deputy is an operational matter for Irish Rail. Therefore, I have referred the Deputy's question to Irish Rail for direct response.

Please advise my private office if you do not receive a reply within ten working days.
