The PRES Level 3 exam is facilitated and coordinated by the medical schools in Ireland on behalf of the Medical Council. The number of available places depends on the capacity and availability of the medical schools who run the exams.

The demand for PRES Level 3 is growing and there are limited exam places available. As a result, a number of applicants did not get a place for the exam in June this year. At present, no other PRES 3 exam dates have been confirmed for 2025. The Medical Council has indicated that it is currently in the process of tendering to secure a framework of exam providers to significantly increase the number of PRES Level 3 exam places available in order to meet the increasing demand. The Medical Council will contact all applicants with more information once additional PRES Level 3 exams are scheduled.

While waiting to sit the PRES 3, both doctors mentioned by the Deputy are eligible to apply for registration in the Supervised Division of the Medical Council register. Supervised registration can be granted to doctors who obtain a supervised post. The doctors in question should contact the Medical Council for more information.
