I propose to take Questions Nos. 208 and 209 together.

Thank you, Deputy, for raising this case.

I can confirm that officials in my Department and the Embassy of Ireland, Israel, are aware of this case and are providing consular assistance to the citizen concerned.

Since first being notified of this case, officials in the Irish Embassy have been actively engaging with the relevant authorities in Israel as part of our efforts to provide consular assistance to the citizen.

It is my understanding that as long as the citizen chooses not to leave Israel voluntarily, she will be detained until a formal decision is taken by the Israeli authorities. In that instance, my officials will continue to provide all possible consular assistance to the citizen.

I can further confirm that Embassy officials have been in direct contact with the citizen in recent days and that a dedicated case officer has also been assigned to the family and is in ongoing contact with them.

As the Deputy will appreciate, it would not be appropriate or helpful for me to comment further on an ongoing consular case.
