187. To ask the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade further to Parliamentary Question No. 116 of 27 May 2025, the reason, given the Government's support for political integration of former associates of paramilitary groups in Northern Ireland through the Good Friday Agreement so as to incentivise decommissioning of arms, it has taken the opposite view in relation to Palestinian groups, whatever their present activity and classification. An important component of Irish foreign policy is the sharing of lessons from the Northern Ireland peace process, a conflict once considered intractable. While each context is different, characterised by specific challenges and complexities, Ireland and other parties to the peace process have drawn several relevant lessons from it.

I can assure the Deputy that a willingness to share such lessons has been and will continue to be an important element of our engagement with both Israel and Palestine, and with civil society organisations that are engaged in peacebuilding efforts on the ground. Such engagement forms part of our intensive and comprehensive international engagement on bringing about a sustainable peace based on the two-State solution.
