While the Garda Commissioner is operationally responsible for the allocation of Garda resources, I engage regularly with him to ensure our Gardaí have the resources they need.

The current planned dates for the next three attestations are listed below, it should be noted that these dates are provisional and are subject to change.

  • The latest Garda Attestation of intake 243 took place on 6 June 2025.
  • The attestation of intake 244 is provisionally planned for 29 August 2025.
  • The attestation of intake 245 is provisionally planned for 14 November 2025.
Attestation dates beyond that have yet to be finalised.

The Garda Commissioner is responsible for the management and administration of Garda business, including arranging for the recruitment, training and appointment of its personnel, and this includes members of the Garda Band.

While there are currently no competitions open for positions in the Garda Band, all of the current members of the band are sworn members of An Garda Síochána. Historically, following the recruitment process for qualified musicians, such individuals were sworn in as members of An Garda Síochána and provided with a level of Garda training to allow for their deployment to front-line policing, if required.
