Road safety is a shared responsibility. The whole of Government response is led by the Department of Transport and is taken very seriously across Government.

Road traffic laws are enforced by Gardaí assigned to Roads Policing and as part of the day-to-day duties of uniformed Gardaí nationwide. This includes a programme of high-visibility road safety and enforcement operations carried out in partnership with other state agencies.

In the interest of transparency, information in relation to the allocation to Roads Policing Units by Garda Division is publicly available and can be found at the following link.

Gardai assigned to Donegal Roads Policing as of 30 June 2022 and 30 April 2025, the latest date for which information is available, are set out in the table below.

Juvenile Liaison Officers (JLOs) are sworn members of An Garda Síochána and are appointed at Divisional level on full time JLO duties.

The Garda National Youth Diversion Bureau has responsibility for the selection, training, support, and ongoing liaison with a network of JLOs in every Garda Community Engagement Area.

I am advised by the Garda authorities that, as of 30 April 2025 (the latest date for which figures are available), there were three JLOs based in Donegal Division who are tasked with supporting the Director in the administration and implementation of the Youth Diversion Programme.

I am further informed that as of 30 June 2022 there were three JLOs based in Donegal Division.

In the interest of transparency, figures related to the Garda workforce are published on my Department's website. This information is supplied by An Garda Síochána, is operational and subject to change. These figures are regularly updated by my Department, upon receipt of the information from the Garda authorities.
