975. To ask the Tánaiste and Minister for Justice and Equality if consideration would be given to the provision of a mechanism to afford flexibility in certain visa cases, in particular for family members of skilled workers who are seeking a visa, in view that many of these skilled workers do not have a family support network in the country especially during difficult or urgent circumstances; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I can assure the Deputy I recognise the enormous contribution to the Irish economy and Irish society made by migrant workers from outside the EU. I understand that people are eager to have their families join them in Ireland.

While I acknowledge the personal difficulties an applicant might be experiencing, including a strong desire to be reunited with their family, expediting a visa application is usually confined to time-sensitive instances, such as, if family member has been hospitalised, in a life-threatening situation or in the unfortunate event of a bereavement.

Requests to expedite an application or for emergency visa can be made through my Departments Customer Service Portal, which can be accessed at the following link:

Emergency applications and requests will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis but will, wherever possible, be processed speedily and sympathetically.

As an Oireachtas member, you can also request the status of individual immigration cases by e-mail, using the Oireachtas Mail facility at: IMoireachtasmail@justice.ie, which has been specifically established for this purpose. This service enables up to date information on such cases to be obtained without the need to seek information by way of the Parliamentary Question process.

I am advised by the Citizenship Division of my Department that the position remains as outlined in my previous response to the Deputy's Parliamentary Question No. 843 on 13 May 2025.

Judicial Review proceedings taken by the person cited on their naturalisation application have now been settled. The processing of this naturalisation application has resumed and the person concerned has an opportunity to submit further documentation before a final decision will issue.

The timeline for processing this application will be in line with the settlement agreement.
