The clear focus of Government is to increase the supply of new build social and affordable homes. Increasing the overall housing supply is key to addressing the housing challenge and in particular preventing and ultimately eliminating long term homelessness.

My Department operates a number of funding programmes that assist local authorities to work in partnership with Approved Housing Bodies (AHBs) to construct and purchase new homes and make them available for social housing.The Capital Assistance Scheme (CAS) and the Capital Advance Leasing Facility (CALF) are the two main programmes funded by my Department to provide social housing via AHBs.

My Department does not hold data relating to notices of termination issued to social tenants of AHBs. AHBs come under the remit of the Residential Tenancies Board (RTB) and tenants and landlords of approved housing bodies are able to access the dispute resolution services of the RTB.
