I met with the Director of the National Gallery of Ireland on 20 February 2025. The meeting was attended by members of the Gallery’s executive leadership team and staff. The Secretary General of my Department Department and my advisors also attended. During the meeting, there was a discussion on the issues which had emerged shortly beforehand concerning the 2017 purchase of an X-ray system. We also discussed a recent acquisition by the Gallery for the national collection. A small number of locations in the Gallery premises were visited during the meeting.
Officials of my Department engage regularly with the Director and the Gallery's executive leadership team. The Assistant Secretary General in the Culture Division met with the Chairperson of the Board and the Director of the Gallery on 7 March 2025.
