The Government remains firmly committed to supporting Irish companies as they navigate the evolving global trade landscape and respond to the challenges posed by tariffs. In collaboration with our dedicated export agency, Enterprise Ireland, we are providing the necessary resources, guidance, and strategic supports to help businesses adapt and thrive.

To lead this effort, Enterprise Ireland has established a dedicated Trade and Tariff Response Team. This team is focused on ensuring that Irish exporters are fully informed of the latest developments and understand how these changes may affect their operations both now and in the future.

Enterprise Ireland has proactively engaged on a one-to-one basis with more than 450 companies that export to the United States. In addition, it has delivered a series of briefings, webinars, and roundtable events in collaboration with international trade experts. These sessions have addressed preparations for potential tariffs, explained announced tariff changes, and outlined recommended actions for companies.

Enterprise Ireland will continue to support Irish exporters as they explore mitigation strategies and assess emerging opportunities. Among the key supports available are:

  • The Strategic Consultancy Grant, which enables companies to engage external experts to address strategic or short-term challenges in areas such as customs and supply chain management.
  • The Market Discovery Fund, which provides grants of up to €150,000 to assist companies in researching and developing new international markets.
I recognise that this is a dynamic and evolving situation, and it will be closely monitored. A key element of the Government’s response is the forthcoming Action Plan on Market Diversification, currently being developed jointly by my Department and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. This plan will assess the range of supports available to help Irish businesses diversify their market outlets and supply chains.

My Department will continue to work closely with the enterprise agencies to ensure that SMEs as the backbone of our economy have the tools, resources, and strategic support they need to succeed in a challenging and competitive global environment.
