The Office of Public Works (OPW) can confirm that, a search of our electronic system for the period from 2020 onward highlighted two properties which were the subject of successful adverse possession claims against the OPW. Neither of these claims resulted in a court case.

Due to the provisions of the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) the OPW cannot divulge personal information relating to these properties other than the following:

Location of Property Date Adverse Possession Granted
Kerry 25 March 2025
Galway 10 June 2024
Prior to 2020, records are primarily paper based and therefore a search of the records from 2015 to 2019 will take longer to carry out. The OPW will reply directly to the Deputy with any results from this further search as soon as possible.
