The Office of Public Works is responsible for the maintenance of Arterial Drainage Schemes completed under the Arterial Drainage Acts of 1945 and 1995, as amended. This location forms a part of the River Inny Catchment Drainage Scheme and was inspected on 3rd June 2025 by officials from the Office of Public Works Eastern Drainage Maintenance Section. The channel that forms part of OPW's responsibility is presently in good condition.

The OPW officials noted that a land drain located adjacent to the channel and south of the housing estate referenced is currently in poor condition and is overgrown with water-grass vegetation and requires maintenance. The OPW does not have maintenance responsibility for this drain and it is a matter for Westmeath County Council to further investigate.
