427. To ask the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform further to Parliamentary Question No. 311 of 5 November 2024, if he will outline the progress made on the provision of a planned new Garda station in Laytown, County Meath; if he will provide a detailed update the development of a business case; a timeline for the completion of the project; and if he will make a statement on the matter. A new Garda station for east Meath is a priority for both An Garda Síochána and the Office of Public Works, and both organisations have been working closely together to realise this goal. AGS have drafted a preliminary Business Case for a new Station and this was received by the OPW late last year. The OPW has completed a market trawl for suitable sites in the area.

The results of the market trawl have been reviewed by both AGS and the OPW. A further meeting is scheduled for this week to bring this part of the process to conclusion.

As the project progresses the Business Case will be updated to include any new relevant information. The Business Case will be an evolving document up to its completion after the tendering process has been finalised and final approvals for the project are being sought.

We can give no timelines for the project at this very early stage.
