I can advise the Deputy that as the child referred to is a visa required national and will not be accompanied by her parents when she returns to the State, she must be issued with a re-entry visa in advance of traveling. Applications for re-entry visas for children under 16 can be made by parents or legal guardians using my Department’s Customer Service Portal, which is available here: www.irishimmigration.ie/registering-your-immigration-permission/submitting-registration-or-renewal-queries/

I can further advise the Deputy, the requirement to obtain a re-entry visa does not apply to children under 16 who are currently residing in the State, when they return to Ireland in the company of parents or legal guardians who hold in date immigration permission to reside in the State.

If the child concerned is travelling as part of a school tour or club, further guidance is available on my Department's website here: .

This guidance suggests that the group gather together in advance of presenting to Immigration Control and the group leader is advised to make themselves known to a member of staff. The group leader should have a list of all travelling minors and have letters of consent.
