259. To ask the Minister for Housing, Planning, and Local Government to outline if he is considering the introduction of a compensation mechanism for domestic households that continue to be affected by prolonged boil water notices, similar to the compensation system in place in other jurisdictions, such as the UK; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The introduction of any specific compensation schemes, is primarily an operational matter for Uisce Éireann, operating under the regulatory oversight of the Commission for the Regulation of Utilities (CRU). As Minister, I have no function in such operational matters.
Uisce Éireann has established a dedicated team to deal with representations and queries from public representatives. The team can be contacted via email to oireachtasmembers@water.ie or by telephone on a dedicated number, 1890 578 578.
