153. To ask the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the reason Ireland is not involved the EU AI Factories initiative to date; if, in the context of the new EU AI Continent Action Plan, Ireland will seek to join a consortium as part of the initiative; and if he will make a statement on the matter. My colleague James Lawless, Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science (DFHERIS) is better suited to provide a response regarding EU AI Factories.

AI Factories are an element of the AI Continent Action Plan, and will be implemented under the EuroHPC Joint Undertaking. Policy responsibility for the area of high-performance computing (HPC) falls under the remit of DFHERIS. DFHERIS are also the lead Department for participation in the EuroHPC Joint Undertaking.
