396. To ask the Minister for Health if she has engaged with the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital (MMUH) with respect of their plans for Temple Street Hospital following the opening of the new National Children’s Hospital; the services the MMUH intends to provide at Temple Street; if any private healthcare services will be provided on site; and if she will make a statement on the matter. Once the new children’s hospital is ready to open, staff, patients, equipment and services will transfer from the existing children’s hospitals. Following this migration, decommissioning of the current sites will occur. It is estimated that the decommissioning of the Temple Street and Crumlin sites will take approximately six months. After the decommissioning of Temple Street Hospital, the building will revert to the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital.
I am due to visit the Mater Hospital in the coming weeks. I will be discussing services and developments with the hospital management and look forward to hearing about the plans for the Temple Street site after decommissioning has been completed.
