The Programme for Government sets out a strong framework for climate action to secure a better, healthier, and more resilient future for Ireland. It also sets out commitments to reduce our reliance on fossil fuels and to take all necessary action to ensure Ireland’s energy security.
The achievement of these ambitious climate and energy goals will be challenging and will require coordinated effort across the public and private sectors.
As I indicated earlier this year, I believe that it is important to work with all stakeholders to ensure that we have the conditions in place to achieve this energy transformation in an effective, timely and sustainable manner, while ensuring the ongoing competitiveness of the Irish economy.
Along with the Minister for Climate, Environment and Energy and the Minister for Enterprise, Tourism and Employment, I plan to engage with public and private sector representatives shortly about how a Climate Investment Clearing House could help to deliver on these objectives.
