Global Citizens 2030 sets out Ireland’s ambitions to embed excellence in talent and innovation into Ireland’s global footprint and is the first international strategy to encompass the breadth of tertiary education, and the whole research and innovation ecosystem. It builds upon Ireland’s achievements over the past decade and is intended to confirm Ireland’s place as a first choice destination for international talent, and as a thought leader in education, research, innovation and science policy. As part of that strategy we will deploy six Talent and Innovation Attachés in strategic locations across the network of Irish Embassies and Consulates.
My Department has appointed the first two Global Ireland Talent and Innovation Attachés. The first attaché took up his post in San Francisco earlier this month. The second attaché, to be posted to Boston, will be in position next month.
My Department is giving consideration to future appointments in the context of its overall strategic planning at the present time. However no decisions have been made as yet with regard to future attaché locations.
