414. To ask the Minister for Employment Affairs and Social Protection if he will confirm reports that IPAS applicants/those who have received permission to stay are being granted vouchers (details supplied) to the value of €180 per week on a regular basis; and if he will make a statement on the matter. International Protection Applicants who are resident in, or on a waiting list for, International Protection Accommodation Services (IPAS) accommodation, may receive a Daily Expenses Allowance (DEA) while awaiting a decision on their international protection application, provided they meet the conditions of the scheme. The International Protection Accommodation Services (IPAS) is under the remit of the Department of Justice.
If permission to remain is granted, the DEA ceases, and individuals may apply for an alternative primary payment from my department if appropriate.
I can confirm that the Department of Social Protection does not make payments by means of ‘One 4 All’ vouchers nor does it issue any vouchers to customers as a form of a once-off or recurring payment.
I trust this clarifies the matter.
