As part of the emergency response to support persons from Ukraine, a Temporary Tuition Fee Support Scheme was introduced. The temporary supports helped Ukrainian Beneficiaries of Temporary Protection (BOTPs) to undertake undergraduate or postgraduate courses in academic years 2022/23; 2023/24 and 2024/25.

For 2022/23, 310 students availed of the Temporary Tuition Fee Support Scheme, costing nearly €1.7 million.
For 2023/24, 563 eligible students availed of the Temporary Tuition Fee Support Scheme, costing nearly €2.8 million
Final numbers and costs for the 2024/25 academic year will be confirmed at the end of the academic year. Current estimates indicate that 1,289 students may avail of the scheme at an estimated cost of circa €6 million.

Supports to students, including temporary supports, are reviewed annually. In this regard, I have recently published details of the Further and Higher Education supports that will apply from the start of the 2025/26 academic year for BOTPs.
