306. To ask the Minister for Health regarding the situation where an individual is in the process of being registered with CORU as a social care worker, whether, if they were to take up part time employment in a different field of work, it would affect their registration with CORU; and if she will make a statement on the matter. Where an individual is employed as a social care worker, either on a part-time or full-time basis, there is no impediment to that person submitting an application to CORU to be placed on the social care workers register. It is only necessary that a person fulfil the registration criteria set out by CORU in order to register as a social care worker. CORU’s registration requirements can be found at this link: coru.ie/health-and-social-care-professionals/registration/registration-requirements/

An applicant can contact CORU directly, at www.coru.ie/about-us/contact-us/, if assistance is required with making an application for registration as a social care worker.
