I propose to take Questions Nos. 238 and 239 together.
Appendix 4 in the Revised Estimates of Expenditure (REV) relates to the Public Capital Programme of Voted and Non-Voted Estimates in relation to my Department.
The €490m relates to Uisce Éireann’s own internal income/own resources and consists of budgeted commercial funding for 2025, which is made up of non-domestic tariffs of €303m and new water and wastewater connections charges of €188m.
Tariffs are collected from non-domestic customers for water and waste-water services in accordance with the determinations of the Commission for the Regulation of Utilities (CRU). New connections charges relate to contributions received from customers in respect of the cost of connecting them to the Uisce Éireann network. The income from these estimates is intended to be fully spent by Uisce Éireann in 2025.
The €514m relates to Non-Voted Exchequer funding provided to Uisce Éireann for 2025, which is the initial drawdown of the €1 billion capital investment in Uisce Éireann announced in Budget 2025. This income is intended to be fully spent by Uisce Éireann in 2025. The remaining balance of the €1 billion will be drawn down from the Department of Finance by Uisce Éireann over the next three years.
