206. To ask the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport if he will outline his responsibilities over the Irish Aviation Authority in relation to the Irish Aviation Authority Act 1993; if he will examine a complaint (details supplied) in relation to legal protections for whistleblowers in the IAA on that basis; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The Irish Aviation Authority Act 1993 provides for the corporate structure of the Irish Aviation Authority and for the governance roles of the Ministers for Transport and Public Expenditure & Reform in respect of such corporate structure. The IAA 1993 Act provides for matters separate and distinct from the Protected Disclosures Act.

While the request referred to in the Deputy's question relates to the IAA which is under the aegis of my Department, as outlined above, I as Minister have no role in relation to such matters.
