104. To ask the Minister for Housing, Planning, and Local Government to provide an update on his Department’s pilot scheme for providing sewage infrastructure to currently unsewered villages, such as Broadford and Cooraclare in County Clare; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [24437/25]

In December 2023, Minister O'Brien approved more than €45 million of funding for pilot projects under my Department's Multi-annual Rural Water Programme for the waste water collection and treatment needs for villages without access to public waste water services.
Following this approval my Department wrote directly to Clare County Council confirming a funding contribution of almost €12 million to co-fund, with the Council, two projects to deliver wastewater treatment systems in Broadford and Cooraclare, Co. Clare.
The local authority is responsible for the delivery of these projects and is required to work in consultation with Uisce Éireann, reflecting the fact that the infrastructure being built will ultimately fall to be owned and operated by Uisce Éireann.
There has been significant follow-up engagement between the Clare County Council and Uisce Éireann including a series of technical workshops on-site to collectively confirm the most efficient and speediest construction options.
Each local authority has a Rural Water Liaison Officer who are responsible for the day to day implementation of these projects and are best placed to provide the information sought.
