I can inform the Deputy that the Reactivation Employment Permit scheme is operated by the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment (DETE). The purpose of the scheme is to provide non-EEA nationals who hold an employment permit a pathway to re-employment where they have fallen out of employment through no fault of their own. The role of the Immigration Service of my Department is to grant a permission to remain in Ireland so that a person can make an application to DETE for their Reactivation Employment Permit.

When an application is submitted to my Department and subsequently approved, applicants will be given a temporary Stamp 1 immigration permission to remain in Ireland. The purpose of this permission is so that the person can make an application for a Reactivation Employment Permit to DETE.

I can advise the Deputy that the Immigration Service of my Department does not collate information on the number of applications for permission to remain in relation to the Reactivation Employment Permit scheme. Such applications are processed and categorised under the Extension of Work Permit conditions (EWPC) application workstream by the Domestic Residence and Permissions Division. The Reactivation of Employment Permit applications are recorded as part of the applicants file, but are not stored in a manner which allows detailed data to be extracted in the manner sought by the Deputy.
