The Social Welfare Appeals Office is an Office of the Department of Social Protection which is responsible for determining appeals against decisions in relation to social welfare entitlements. Appeals Officers are independent in their decision making functions.
The Chief Appeals Officer has advised me that this appeal was assigned to an Appeals Officer for consideration on the 9th May 2025. The Appeals Officer reviewing the appeal has requested additional information from Invalidity Pension section due to a query on the customers claim. Once a response is received from Invalidity Pension section the Appeals Officer will make a summary decision on the appeal based on the documentary evidence presented or, if necessary, hold an oral hearing.
I trust this clarifies the matter for the deputy.
