All enquires on Irish driving licences and driver licensing are handled by the National Driver Licence Service, the provision of which I have delegated to the Road Safety Authority (RSA) under the relevant legislation. My Department does not have access to individual applications.
As this is a matter for the RSA. I have referred the question to the Authority for direct reply. I would ask the Deputy to contact my office if a response is not received within 10 days.
In relation to driving licence applications in general, a person must be 17 years of age to apply for a category B (car) learner permit.
