In line with National Ports Policy (2013) and with legislative provisions, as set out in the Harbours Act 2015, control of five designated Ports of Regional Significance, including Dún Laoghaire Harbour Company, was transferred to more appropriate local authority led governance structures.

Subsequently, in 2018, Dun Laoghaire Harbour Company was dissolved and transferred to the control of Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council.

All operational considerations including passenger services and prioritisation of infrastructural works at Dún Laoghaire Harbour are therefore a matter for Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council.
