363. To ask the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport to provide a breakdown of the average driving test waiting list times; the number of applicants waiting to sit their driving test; the number of driving testers employed; the number of testers on part-time versus full-time contracts, by driving test centre, in tabular form; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Under the Road Safety Authority Act 2006, the Road Safety Authority (RSA) has statutory responsibility for the National Driver Testing Service and the information requested is held by the Authority.
I have therefore referred the Deputy's question to the RSA for direct reply. I would ask the Deputy to contact my office if a response has not been received within ten days.

365. To ask the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport if he has considered introducing a statutory wait time for driving tests, like the one that exists for the NCT; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [23191/25]

Under the Road Safety Authority Act 2006, the Road Safety Authority (RSA) has statutory responsibility for the operation and delivery of both the National Car Test (NCT) service and the National Driver Testing Service. Non-statutory service level agreements (SLAs) are in place for both services with delivery targets including wait time targets.
The SLA wait time target for an NCT is 12 days while the SLA wait time target for a driving test is 10-weeks. However, it is important to note that these are not statutory requirements. The NCT SLA is included in the contract with the third party service provider appointed to run the NCT on behalf of the RSA. This same does not arise for Driver Testing as the service is wholly run by the RSA.
