The South Coast Designated Maritime Area Plan (DMAP) was adopted by the Oireachtas in October 2024. The DMAP is Ireland's first maritime spatial plan for offshore wind development and it identifies four development areas for fixed bottom wind farms.
My Department's 900 MW Tonn Nua Offshore Wind Auction will focus on site A, known as Tonn Nua, and the auction process under the Renewable Electricity Support Scheme will commence this Autumn.
Following the Tonn Nua auction, I will look to bring to the market the remaining three development areas within the South Coast DMAP, ensuring a consistent pipeline of offshore wind sites over the coming years. For the remaining three development areas, EirGrid is preparing grid connection options for my Department. This work will inform the timing and availability of grid for the next route to market within the South Coast DMAP.
