The Gurteen Health Centre is located in the village of Gurteen in South Sligo. The centre houses a public health nursing service, a day centre for older person’s services, as well as the local GP practice.

The local HSE Primary Care management are aware of the issue of restricted space within the building for the GP practice.

A meeting was held on May 8th 2025 at Gurteen Health Centre with representatives from various HSE departments, local representatives and staff from the centre. This was a productive engagement where the current challenges were again highlighted, and a number of potential solutions were discussed.

While it is acknowledged that there is no straightforward solution due to the site’s limitations, several options were outlined that may assist in the short term while longer-term plans are being developed. The HSE has advised that the Options Appraisal is nearing completion, and an update will be provided to the Centre within the next two weeks, setting out the proposed next steps.
