In December 2023, Minister O'Brien approved funding for a number of projects under my Department's Multi-annual Rural Water Programme for the waste water collection and treatment needs for villages without access to public waste water services. Details of the announcement are available at the following link

Local authorities are responsible for the delivery of these projects and are required to work in consultation with Uisce Éireann, reflecting the fact that the infrastructure being built will ultimately fall to be owned and operated by Uisce Éireann.

There has been significant follow-up engagement between the local authorities concerned and Uisce Éireann including a series of technical workshops on-site to collectively confirm the most efficient and speediest construction options.

Each local authority has a Rural Water Liaison Officer who is responsible for the day to day implementation of these projects and are best placed to provide the information sought.
