In December 2023, my Department wrote directly to Galway County Council confirming approval of a funding contribution of more than €10 million under the Rural Water Programme to co-fund, with Galway County Council, a project to deliver a wastewater treatment system in Craughwell Village, Co Galway.
Galway County Council is responsible for the delivery of this project and they are required to work in consultation with Uisce Éireann, reflecting the fact that the infrastructure being built will ultimately fall to be owned and operated by Uisce Éireann.
There has been significant follow-up engagement between Galway County Council and Uisce Éireann including a series of technical workshops on-site to collectively confirm the most efficient and speediest construction options.
Galway County Council has a Rural Water Liaison Officer who is responsible for the day to day implementation of this project and is best placed to provide the information sought. The officer can be contacted at the Rural Water Section of Galway County Council.
