375. To ask the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine to confirm the set-back rule for residential tree planting; the required distance to protect private dwellings; the body responsible for residential matters in relation to tree planting; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The minimum setback distance between newly planted forestry (greater than 0.1 hectares) and dwelling houses is 60 metres. In certain circumstances where the dwelling owner provides written consent this distance can be reduced to 30 metres. My Department checks these minimum setback distances have been included in forestry licence applications and also checks during post-planting inspections that these setbacks have been correctly applied. My Department has no role in relation to set-back distances for planting individual trees.
